We are gathered here today, forkers and stargazers, contributors and the quietly curious, to bid farewell to HELPq โ a soul who spent its brief years asking nothing more than to connect those who needed help with those who could give it. HELPq came into this world on a hopeful March morning in 2015, born of that most sacred hackathon energy โ the kind that convinces brilliant people that yes, this weekend, we will build something that lasts. And for a time, it did last. Those early commits burned bright. Pull requests flew. Issues were opened with genuine excitement. HELPq stood at the front of the room, clipboard in hand, managing queues at hackathons and classrooms, doing the humble, essential work of saying: someone will help you soon. Then, as happens to so many of our beloved side projects, the commits grew sparse. Weekends filled with other obligations. The repository waited patiently, its twelve open issues unanswered, its 128 forks scattered like children grown and moved away. The last breath came quietly on February 11th, 2020, a Tuesday, as most endings are. No fanfare. Just silence. Two thousand, three hundred and twenty-four days of silence since. HELPq never stopped being useful. It simply stopped being tended.
There is a difference, and it matters. May your queues always resolve, your mentors always arrive, and your final commit find peace in the cold archive of good intentions.
