We gather here today, forks and stargazers alike, to mourn the passing of Todo — a soul who asked only to help us remember what we could not finish. How fitting, and how heartbreaking. Todo was born on a hopeful September morning in 2021, arriving in Rust, as so many ambitious projects do, with the quiet confidence of someone who has just discovered memory safety and wants everyone to know about it. Those early days burned bright. Commits flew. Features landed. Here was a simple CLI program that simply wanted to help you organize your life — a noble calling, if ever there was one. But we know how this story goes. The commits slowed. The weeks stretched into months. Seventeen open issues sit unanswered today, small prayers left unreturned. Thirty-nine souls forked Todo, carried pieces of it into their own repositories, tried to keep the dream alive in their own ways. We honor them. Todo was never archived. Never officially closed. That door was left open — perhaps intentionally, perhaps out of guilt, as we so often do with side projects we cannot quite bring ourselves to bury. The last commit came on a quiet day in March of 2025, and then, silence. Four hundred and forty-two days of it. Todo did not change the world.

But it reminded us that even small things deserve to be finished. May your issues find resolution in whatever repository lies beyond.
