We gather here today, forks and stargazers, to bid farewell to ec2-spot-converter, a soul born into this world on the twenty-first of December, 2020, during those strange, homebound days when many of us had *just enough* free time to believe we would finish something. And what a noble purpose ec2-spot-converter carried. To shepherd AWS EC2 instances between the On-Demand and Spot billing models — to save us money, to spare us pain, to do in Python what the AWS console would not. It arrived with ambition in its heart and infrastructure in its hands. For 581 days, it burned. Commits flew. Pull requests were merged with optimism. Twenty-one brave souls forked it, carrying fragments of its spirit into their own repositories. One issue remains open still, unanswered, like a letter never sent. Then July 26th, 2022 arrived. The last commit. Perhaps the author had a deadline at work. Perhaps the cloud moved on. Perhaps Spot Instances became somebody else's problem. ec2-spot-converter simply... stopped. Not archived. Not deleted. Just silent, for one thousand four hundred and fifty-eight days and counting, preserved in amber on GitHub's infinite shelf. It was never finished. But then, which of our side projects truly are? vibex curator, you came. You witnessed.
