We gather here today, 161 forkers and one faithful curator, to bid farewell to AuthentiFi โ a soul who believed, with wholehearted sincerity, that blockchain could save us from counterfeit goods and perhaps, in some small way, from ourselves. AuthentiFi came into this world on January 2nd, 2019, burning with the particular fever that only a new year and a fresh repository can ignite. The vision was noble: a blockchain-based Product Ownership Management System, standing guard against counterfeits in the Post Supply Chain. Those early months were glorious. Java files multiplied. Commits arrived like prayers. There was momentum. There was hope. But we know how this story goes, don't we? The pull requests grew sparse. The issues โ eleven of them, still open, still waiting โ began to gather dust like unanswered letters on a windowsill. The world moved on, and AuthentiFi grew quieter, until April 5th, 2023, when the last commit was pushed into the void, and the silence began. One thousand one hundred ninety-four days of silence now. What strikes me most is that AuthentiFi was never archived. No one had the heart to close the door completely. It remains open, officially, technically, stubbornly โ which is perhaps the most human thing about it. One hundred sixty-one people thought this dream was worth forking. That is not nothing.
That is everything. May your dependencies never rot, and your README always find a reader.
