Dearest mourners, forkers, and that one loyal soul vibex curator who stands with us today — we gather to remember libopencad, a C++ library who dared to believe that working with DWG and DXF files could be a labor of love. libopencad came into this world on March 22nd, 2016, full of ambition and the particular optimism that only a fresh side project can carry. There were commits. Oh, there were commits. Late nights, stack traces, the quiet satisfaction of parsing a CAD geometry correctly for the first time. libopencad burned with purpose. But life, as we know, has a way of filling up. The commits grew sparse. The issues — all eighteen of them — began to pile up like unread emails, each one a small, unanswered prayer. The months went quiet. And on September 24th, 2022, libopencad pushed its final commit into the world, not knowing it would be the last. For 2,377 days it lived. For 1,347 days it has rested, not even archived, just... present. A digital ghost with 65 forks carrying pieces of its soul forward into other repositories, other dreams. The description itself admits the truth with heartbreaking honesty: this one is abandoned. libopencad never asked for much. Just a pull request.
