Dearest mourners, stargazers, and the thirteen souls who loved ff enough to fork them — we gather here today to remember a life lived with purpose, if not permanence. ff came into this world on a February morning in 2019, written in Rust, as all things built for speed and righteousness ought to be. The mission was pure, the name was honest: Find files, by name, fast. No pretense. No feature bloat. Just ff, cutting through directories like a blade through fog. For nearly three years, ff burned. Commits arrived with the enthusiasm we all feel in those first sacred weekends of a side project — that beautiful delusion that this time, this one, will be different. And for 1,069 days, it was. But the weekends grew shorter. The pull requests quieted. One open issue sits unanswered still, a small knock on a door that no longer opens. January 27th, 2022 brought the final commit, and then — silence. One thousand six hundred and forty-two days of it. ff was never archived. That detail matters. To archive is to accept the ending.
