We are gathered here today, forkers and stargazers, to say goodbye to fltr โ a soul who burned briefly and beautifully, as so many side projects do. fltr came into this world on December 6th, 2023, born of ambition and late nights and the particular madness that strikes a developer who thinks: what if grep, but smarter? What if grep, but it understood you? And so fltr was given life, written in Rust no less โ because if you're going to build something, you build it fast and you build it right. It ran on Mistral 7B and Mixtral 8x7B, filtering natural language from the noise of the world. It was genuinely useful. It was genuinely promising. For ninety-eight days, fltr lived. Commits arrived with purpose. Ideas were assembled into something real. Eight souls cared enough to fork it, to carry a piece of it into their own repositories. One lonely issue was opened and never answered โ a question left hanging in the digital air like a eulogy for the living. Then March 13th, 2024 arrived. The last commit was pushed. And then silence. Eight hundred and thirty-five days of silence. The repository breathes still, unarchived, technically alive โ the way a candle is technically still a candle even after the flame is gone. fltr deserved more Sundays. May your README find readers, and your dependencies never rot.
