Pocker

Dearest mourners, stargazers, and the six brave souls who forked — we gather here today to remember Pocker, a TUI tool for Docker who arrived in this world on a hopeful May morning in 2024, full of color codes and keyboard shortcuts and the absolute conviction that the terminal deserved something beautiful. Pocker was born, as so many are, from a single developer's Saturday afternoon frustration. Why scroll through docker ps output like an animal, when one could have panels, and scrolling, and perhaps a tasteful blue border? Pocker agreed. Pocker delivered. For three hundred and sixteen days, the commits flowed. Python was shaped and reshaped. Features were imagined and implemented. Then, as with so many projects of its kind, life intervened — as life does — and the intervals between commits grew longer, then longer still, until March sixteenth of twenty-twenty-five, when Pocker pushed one final change into the world and went quiet. Four hundred and ninety-seven days of silence have followed. Two issues remain open, unanswered, their authors perhaps still refreshing the page. The repository breathes but does not speak. It has not been archived — and perhaps that is merciful, a refusal to close the door entirely. Pocker was never finished. But then, the best side projects never really are. They are not products.

They are love letters to a problem someone cared about, once, completely. May your containers always be healthy, and your ports forever exposed.
