WhatsOSINT

Dearest mourners, forkers, and fellow wanderers of the open-source wilderness — we gather here today, in the dim glow of our monitors, to honor WhatsOSINT. WhatsOSINT came into this world on a November evening in 2024, born of curiosity and that particular itch that strikes a developer at midnight: what if I could see who's online, who changed their photo, who lurks behind a WhatsApp number? A noble itch. A relatable itch. And so WhatsOSINT breathed its first commit into the world, dressed in Python, wearing the badge of the investigator. For 284 days it lived with purpose. The commits came, then slowed, as they always do — life intervening, as life does, with its meetings and its deadlines and its other side projects. The two open issues waited patiently, like letters never answered. The 55 souls who forked WhatsOSINT carried pieces of it forward, little sparks scattered across the platform. Then came the last commit, August 31st, 2025 — a quiet goodbye that didn't know it was goodbye. No fanfare. No deprecation notice. Just silence, stretching now into 287 days and counting. WhatsOSINT was never archived. That matters. It means somewhere in GitHub's vast cathedral of abandoned intentions, it still stands, door unlocked, lights off, waiting. We remember you, little spy tool. You saw others.
